Georgelyne is from France and is enrolled in our Professional Internship Program.
As part of her Bachelor degree in Business Administration, she wanted to come to Canada because she thinks that Vancouver is an awesome place to work, and it was also recommended by some of her friends. She decided to register to our program that includes a guaranteed internship placement in order to gain international work experience and improve her English level at the same time.
After reviewing her Canadian-style resume and going through an interview-preparation seminar with one of the STEPWEST Coordinators, an interview was scheduled with a Canadian owned and operated business serving retailers in Western Canada, located in Burnaby, near to Vancouver. She did a great job during her interview and got the internship position as a Logistics Coordinator Intern. After preparing her journey, she arrived in Vancouver and was welcomed by our team at our office for an orientation seminar.
As part of our monitoring, we went to see Georgelyne at her office this week (see pic above). She is very happy with her duties and her job position. Her main responsibility is to take orders from the customers and manage clients. Interaction with the customers is what she likes the most in this job even though the most challenging part is to understand and learn the technical vocabulary related to this industry.
Although she has only one month left, thanks to this experience, she has gained independence and developed a lot of technical vocabulary and skills related to the logistics industry.
This internship experience in Vancouver will give her a competitive edge over other applicants and help her with her future career in the Business Administration field once she travels back to France.
