Severe 8.9 magnitude earthquake rocks Japan

Today, Friday, March 11th 2011 a massive earthquake hits Japan.

“The most powerful earthquake to hit Japan in recorded history struck Friday off the island nation, killing hundreds of people, collapsing buildings, igniting widespread fires and unleashing 30-foot walls of water.”

In addition to the hundreds dead, hundreds more were missing, Japanese media reported, citing local and national police. Tens of thousands of people were displaced, according to Japan’s Kyodo News Agency.

STEPWEST works a lot with Japan. We have some agents there working for us and we used to place some japanese students in internships or jobs in Vancouver.

STEPWEST’s team wants to share your grief and tell them that our thoughts are going to the people of Japan!
